As part of our mission to create a vital and active urban environment, Downtown Spokane strives to assist community events and organizations in activating downtown through a variety of promotional opportunities.
You may have noticed distinctive event banners lining the streets on light poles promoting some of your favorite iconic Spokane events. Downtown Spokane manages the production, implementation and instillation of these banners. As per City Ordinance, street banners cannot be advertising, but may promote community events. More
Construction on Spokane’s expanse of sky bridges began in the 1960's when the Parkade was connected with the historic 1890 Bennett Block building and the Bon Marche (now Macy's). The convenience of going between a covered parking area to shops and restaurants without being exposed to the elements caught on quickly. As one of only three North American cities to boast a skywalk system, these covered walkways are uniquely our own. Currently 16 skywalks cover a dozen city blocks. In the spring and winter you will notice seasonal messages highlighting all that Spokane has to offer. In collaboration with building owners, the BID assists in using these gems for promotion of community events. More
From red, white, and blue for Independence Day to the royal purple of the Lilac City, color adds an element of fun to any celebration. Downtown Spokane maintains lighting systems installed on the south side of the Davenport Grand Hotel and the north face of the Fox Theater. Add your color to our downtown skyline for free when you contact us regarding an event or promotion. Downtown Spokane also coordinates color schemes with the Lincoln Building and the Steam Plant Stacks. In addition, your BID maintains eight lamps capable of projecting large images on building flat surfaces. More
