Downtown Spokane

Residential Profile

"Downtown Spokane is
convenient, hip, great...
the lights are bright again "

– Newsweek Magazine

Downtown Spokane’s residential population is estimated at over 2,843 and is expected to grow by 354 people annually over the next 10 years. Many residents walk or bicycle to work at a nearby office, to play in Riverfront Park, or to go home from a night on the town.

  • Developers are already "rehabbing" historic and industrial Downtown Spokane buildings, attracting high-end, empty-nesters and young professionals from the suburbs to the downtown core.
  • Professional focus groups and a market demand analysis demonstrated that young professionals and empty nesters are looking for market-rate housing with access to the amenities and excitement of a vibrant, Downtown Spokane.
  • Of the 300 units in demand each year, about one-half will be purchased by individuals newly locating in Spokane.
